I think painting the land masses made a huge difference in the map.
The Diva Challenge this week is to do a white on black piece, and the Square One focus for the week is Zinger, so I combined the two in a traditional White on Black tile. I filled each level of the Zingers with tangles, including Betweed, Knights Bridge, Kings Crown, Nipa, Shattuck, Meer, Tipple, Crescent Moon, Pia, Floorz, Jonqual and probably a few others. Here it is.
I also joined another Facebook Group called Stacked and Tangled, or possibly Tangled and Stacked. The rules for this group are basically that your string create stacks, all going the same direction, i.e. horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. The stacks can also be curved just as long as they follow the only one direction rule. I learned about this group from my wonderful CZT Sacil Armstrong, who taught stacking in our class last week. Here is my first attempt which was completed during class. It was done on a Bijou Tile, and uses the tangles Tipple, Lollipop, Dex and Cadent.
My second attempt is done using black and red Micron Pigmas as well as a White Gelly Roll on a 3 1/2" tile of watercolor paper. The background was painted using Peerless Watercolors, and the small bits of shading were done using Fantasia Watercolor Pencils. I prefer Derwent Inktense pencils for more vivid colors, but the Fantasias work very well for shading over an already painted piece. The tangles used in this piece are a sorta kinda version of Aquafleur, Antidots, Spaander, Zinger and a little bit of Tipple. I really like the way this one turned out.
In addition to the usual size tiles, I also made several inchies on watercolor paper, once again using my Peerless Watercolors. Some of these the first 2 will be posted in the Stacked and Tangled Group, and all of them will become necklaces in the very near future.
I absolutely love working on a watercolor background, and am thrilled with the Peerless Watercolors, because there is no mess, no clean-up, and I can easily take and use them anywhere. I primarily use a water brush, but they also work great using a Recollections Blender Pen. So far, these are my favorite crafting purchase of the year.
As always, I welcome your comments and critiques.
Happy Tangling!

Oh, WHOA! You have been very very busy! LOVE all of the color I see here today! Your white on black with zinger's stacked tangles is a great idea! And the use of water color is so beautiful. The background of your blog really accents your work too! : )
